New York Fashion Week: Richard Chai

  • Julep was just backstage at Richard Chai’s runway show for New York Fashion Week completing the model’s nail looks to accompany his beautiful new spring 2013 collection. We worked with Richard to choose a nail color that is fresh and classic, yet still eye-catching. Each female model was polished with one coat of Sienna, our sophisticated shimmery gold, with a layer of our new matte top coat over to give a very chic subtle finish.
  • I am huge fan of Richard Chai Love designs, so it was a thrill to be working with him backstage at his Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week show.  On the human side, what is amazing about Richard is that he is so talented but such a genuine, kind person.  He is an anti-diva in a world of divas. And this collection was beautiful.  Structured and sporty but in a totally sexy way.  Richard makes clothing that shows he understands a woman and how to make her look and feel dynamic from her core.
  • To highlight the charcoals and metalic neutrals in the collection’s color palatte, we used a muted gold metalic (one of my favorites):  Sienna, with our Matte Topcoat to further soften the look.  We just used one coat to create a sheer, glowy, sueded look.  What I loved about this look is that it is subtly elegant but in an interesting way that makes you look again.  Blending colors and finishes backstage is so exciting – especially when you get to work with designers as talented as Richard Chai. – Jane
