This month we’re celebrating our 5 year Maven anniversary, and we put together an extra special polish collection to honor some of our long-time Julep subscribers. We created an entire month of Wonder Maven polishes, each named after a Maven who has been with us from the very beginning. Read on to learn more about a few of our inspiring Julep fans.

Q:  Favorite Julep product?

Glycolic Hand Scrub.

Q:  How do you Brave Pretty?

Know yourself and your limitations, don’t follow trends, make your own. Be patient, rewards, achievements and recognitions will come eventually. Don’t give up too easily, sometimes what may seem like failure really is just a way the universe is saying this isn’t for you – so try something else. Find something that you are passionate about, that you really want to pursue and go for it, stumbling along the way – falling and getting back up.

Q:  Favorite Julep polish?

This probably sounds super boring, but my favorite Julep polish is the Take a Breather nail treatment in sheer pink.  Even if my nails are looking a bit rough from everything, one coat of this makes them look like I just had them professionally done.

Q:  What was your best Julep memory or moment in the past 5 years?

My mum had been looking all over for a new eyeliner.  She’d tried a bunch of different kinds (I don’t remember which or how many) and wasn’t happy with any of them.  As she was trying all of these out, my Julep box had one of the gel eyeliners.  I let her try it and never got it back!

WONDER MAVEN KEENA VAN VALKENBURGH

Q:  Favorite Julep product?

It’s now the Glow Highlighting Powder – I use it EVERY DAY!

Q:  What do you do when you have free time?

I spend a lot of time with family and friends. We usually try to find an event around town or hit up some of our favorite restaurants.  I’m also a new Auntie, so I love spending time with my niece, Emma.  If I’m not working or with my family, I’m most likely trying to get out of town, preferably somewhere close to a beach. SoCal definitely has a piece of my heart. I definitely believe in “travel everywhere”. I want to see and experience everything this world offers.

Q:  Favorite Julep polish?

Kim (bring her back!)

Q:  Tell us about your Julep stash. After 5 years, you must have an amazing collection!

My stash has become pretty small with use of the polishes. I only currently have 208 polishes out of the more than 775 polishes released. Yes, I’m still hoarding Kim!

Q:  Favorite Julep product?

I can’t narrow it down to one, so I narrowed it down to the category of lips. 1. I love It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse; not enough people know about what a great product this is! Long lasting and non-drying is hard to find in a matte lip color and this is both. 2. Your Lip Addiction is great because it gives your lips a je ne sais quoi – a subtle, youthful, plump look. I get tons of compliments when I use it. 3. It’s Balm is easy to apply and as moisturizing as a drugstore lip balm but with some flattering color. Doesn’t get easier than that!

Q:  How do you Brave Pretty?

By wearing what makes me feel good! I used to be worried about trends and if other people would like what I wear but as I’ve gotten older I realized that when I am comfortable, I am confident and confidence makes you brave and pretty.

I have been wondering about Mavens who have been in for the long haul and have had colours released to honour some random act of kindness, prior to the wonder maven program.
Maybe Julep can re-issue those names and colours. That way the newer and broader Maven audiences can access some of those colours and stories about the principles that Julep was built on.
