Mix or Match: Nail Colors That Look Great with Denim

by Meghan Carlson | 1 Comment

If you’re anything like us, a great pair of jeans is an all-seasons staple in your wardrobe. And with spring now in full swing, you’re probably getting even more wear out of your favorite denim, whether it’s your tried and true jean jacket, a chambray button-up, or a pair of cool, distressed cut-offs.

The great thing about denim is that it goes with anything—including all sorts of fun nail polish shades. Today we’re focusing in on two of our favorite color families that look especially stunning set against denim. Add a complementary or contrasting pop of color to your next denim-focused ensemble with one of these chic shades:

Keep It Cool in Blue

Blue-Nails-With-Denim-2

A few of our favorite blues (from left) are: CharGuntaDaria, and Julianne.

Whatever wash of denim you’re wearing, there’s a beautiful blue to match. A corresponding or contrasting shade of blue on your nails adds that little something extra that pulls together your whole look. If you’re really feeling bold, pair it with a wash of pastel blue eyeshadow or a cobalt cat-eye for a monochromatic look that’s anything but boring.

Warm It Up in Red

Red-Nails-with-Denim-1Four red-based shades we can’t get enough of (from left): Nan, Anisa, Brielle, Eva

Like peanut butter and jelly or pearls and a little black dress, red nails and denim were just meant to be together. It’s a great way to add a little drama to a casual outfit without going overboard. Play up the fun factor with other bright accessories like a neon statement necklace or bold patterned headscarf, or keep it casually chic with a white V-neck tee, Converse, and red lipstick. Minimal effort, maximum impact—what’s not to love?

I love Lizanne w/ denim. or really any turquoise or teal; like Phoebe. But Lizanne has got a really nice opaqueness w/ just a bit of shimmer. Pairs perfect w/ jeans and a black shirt. Not so “goody two shoes” white shirt look. 🙂
