What’s the Deal with DD Crème?

First there was BB Cream. Then came CC Cream. What’s next? DD Cream? Yes! DD Crème is Julep’s new “Dynamic Do-all”, the awesome result of combining BB and CC creams. With all these new creams on the shelves, how do you know which one is the best – and which are all talk without the walk? Here’s a breakdown of BBs, CCs, and why Julep’s DD Crème may just have hit the nail on the head in helping you achieve a flawless complexion.

BB Cream (which stands for “beauty balm” or “blemish balm”) is a product with a large following in Asia that was introduced to the states over the past few years. Heavier than a tinted moisturizer but lighter than liquid foundation, BB Cream has additional benefits including SPF for daily wear. It is a good base for layering under foundation, blush, and bronzer, but can also stand alone for light coverage and skincare benefits. The problem with BB creams, however, may lie in their too-light coverage, and we’ve found that we frequently need additional powders to achieve a flawless foundation.

CC cream, similar to BB creams, offers light coverage but targets redness of the skin with “light-diffusing particles”. CC, standing for “color corrector”, is also light and lends a nice finish to the face. Although each brand of CC is different and they are typically heavier than BB products, you may find the need additional coverage in the case of those pesky blemishes that pop up right before a hot date (naturally). CC creams have different long-term benefits; most companies promise that aside from its light coverage, it also helps to fade dark spots from aging and acne over time with continued use.

Enter DD Crème. Although referred to as “Daily Defense” by some, Julep’s DD Crème is an acronym for “Dynamic Do-All”, which has all the combined benefits from its predecessors. DD Crème is both preventative (BB cream’s fighting power) and corrective (CC cream’s main focus). Daily Defense DD cream moisturizes, primes, perfects, and protects instantly and over time. It works beautifully as a makeup primer or as a buildable foundation while re-texturizing the skin to create a flawless finish in one step. Unlike many current alphabet-labeled products on the market, Julep’s DD Crème comes in four different shades rather than the typical two.  For additional coverage, DD Concealer by Julep eliminates imperfections with light-diffusing powers and age-defying antioxidants.

BB creams and CC creams are all the rage right now, and for good reason. Unfortunately, you need both to get all the combined benefits. To save yourself some time in front of the mirror and space in your getaway weekend bag, swap your BB and CC for Julep DD Crème. Your skin is already thanking you.

What do you think of Julep’s new DD Crème? We’d love to hear your feedback in the comments section below!
