What it is:
An ergonomic nail polishing tool designed to solve common polishing pain points and give you better results. Imagine if you’d spent your whole life writing with a pen cap and then someone finally handed you a full-size pen. That’s what it feels like to polish with the Plié Wand.
What it does:
  • Long, balanced design improves leverage, comfort, and control
  • Flexible handle twists and bends so you can get a better grip
  • Plié overcap fits on any Julep nail polish and attaches to Plié Wand
  • Precision brush lets you polish closer to your nail
  • The Plié Wand is made from:

  • Our desire to solve the polishing pain points we’ve heard about (and experienced) over the years
  • Amazing teamwork with award-winning design & innovation firm IDEO
  • Fabulous feedback from our loyal Mavens
  • There’s no “right way” to use the Plié Wand—just play around until you find a comfortable grip that keeps your brush steady. Some suggestions to get you started:

  • When you polish with your dominant hand, try holding the wand like a pen. The familiar grip and balanced design will help keep your brush steady.
  • Once you move on to your non-dominant hand, try bending the handle and resting it in the crook of your hand. This will stabilize your brush and give you more control.
  • As you experiment with different grips and angles, rotate the cap to keep the flat end of the brush parallel to your nail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A New "Must Have" I am probably the oddest person that polishes nails. I actually have always painted my nails better with my non dominant hand than with my dominant hand. Not sure why - and even odder is that my non dominant hand suffers from an old injury and movement is somewhat limited. I was skeptical and optimistic at the same time over the Plie Wand but intrigued enough to try. I do love it and now I can polish evenly with both hands. A hint to all you ladies: when putting the Plie cap over the brush cap don't push it on very hard or it for sure will be hard to remove. Just put enough pressure so the cap can "grab on". Hope that makes sense. Also apply a thin coat of oil or Vaseline to the inside of the Plie cap. A hint to Julep: Add the above hint to your instruction brochure. Too many complaints about not being able to separate them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice tool with a small problem I tried this today for the first time, and I have to say that it was very comfortable to use, plus my left hand came out SO much better than it normally does! Very impressive. My problem came when it was time to wash my tools. I used a non-Julep polish today, so I used the provided brush that came with the wand in another polish bottle which worked fine until I attempted to clean the brush with nail polish remover as directed. I ended up with a melty plastic-like substance all over my hands from the black part of the brush (the part that has a magnetic tip to hook onto the wand). The brush and clear pastic connecter part were fine, but something about the coating on the wand connecting part- it totally just melted when in contact with polish remover(acetone). It took a lot of work to get off my hands, and now my brush tip has a not-so-pretty bumpy, partly melted connector piece which is a bummer. Definitely warn people not to get polish remover on that part!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A polishing tool no one should be without! Got my Maven box today and immediately sat down to start polishing. I really expected the Plie Wand to be very gimmicky and over-hyped...I have never been so happy to be wrong! Without even bending it the feel in both my dominant and non-dominant hand is 1000 times better than a regular nail brush. Very comfortable to use! Only two tiny problems I have noticed so far, and that's with the overcaps. They really hold onto those base caps that all the Julep bottles have. The overcap that came with the kit was stuck pretty good onto the precision brush, I accidentally pulled the precision brush apart and then had to screw the cap onto a bottle of polish to get enough leverage to separate the overcap. No worries though as the precision brush popped back together with no drama. The other overcap is still stuck on my Julep polish that I used for my manicure. I can't seem to "slide" it back off in order to use it on another polish. Not enough to warrant dropping one of those stars, though, as I will just have my big strong husband take it off for me later! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides great control and precision! I just got this in my May Maven box yesterday, and I love it. I am awful at painting my nails without a mess and have developed a system of carefully applying an oil-based lotion using a cotton swab to my cuticles and around my nails. That way, whatever polish I get on my fingers comes off easily. Well, I tried using the Plie wand without doing that yesterday and it was really easy to paint my nails! Both hands! I love it. I'll echo what another reviewer said though -- its really hard (so far impossible, for me) to get the overcap off again once you've put it on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good + Helpful tip for stuck overcaps I *just* got my Plié Wand about half an hour ago, and I'm already so happy with it and super impressed. I haven't had time to paint all my nails yet, but I did some quick testing and I'm looking forward to finishing up my nails. Like dbank explained in her review, I too had my Plié overcap get stuck on the first polish I put it on, but I managed to get it off with a little elbow grease and shimmying a pair of strategically placed pliers. I decided I would just not put the overcap on all the way down. Then, I went to pop on the Precision Brush on the overcap. When I went to remove that, the brush popped off, leaving the cap top inside! However, I realized that the hole in the top of the Plié cap where it attaches to the wand goes all the way through! So, all I needed to do was grab a pen/pencil/anything small enough to fit through the hole, and pop it out. Voilà! So, for any of you Mavens out there with overcaps stuck on your polish caps, try this!
