Rated 4 out of 5 by mermaidssing from Excellent but overpriced If you're used to kaolin masks, the consistency of this one will take some getting used to. It goes on like tar, and you need to apply fast because while it dries it can flake away if you touch it, so joining an already applied area to a newly applied area can be tricky. It dries to a rubber-like finish (it does not contain latex), and peels off easily. There's no discernible smell. Peel-offs add a whole other layer of fun to my spa mask days, and what didn't come off in one long strip was easily washed off with a little warm water. I could see the imprint my pores and some ick on the mask when I peeled it off, showing that it does actually yank that stuff out. A few moments after washing my face, I saw small pimples that had been developing rising to a head, the yuck having been pulled to the surface by the mask. That's exactly what I hoped it would do, and while this mask doesn't seem to exfoliate, my skin looked smoother afterwards. I could see developing blemishes to spot treat them, and the next morning, my skin was mostly pimple-free -- not bad for my worst skin day in the month. My biggest gripe is that you get a small amount for the price. Because of the consistency, you need to apply a moderate layer for best results, and I think the tube will be used up in three or four applications. While I love the product, I need to find a similar one that is less expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by alamod from nice! At first I was under the impression that this mask was supposed to exfoliate, but quickly realized that it was too gentle to do that. This mask is super black, and super fun to apply - my husband and I enjoyed putting it on side by side - half way into it, I looked like I had a beard and a mustache, and (since he has a beard) he looked like he was wearing the mask of Zorro lol. It peels off very smoothly and after washing with bare face cleansing oil, my skin was baby soft. The last time I remember my skin being this soft was when I was 14 :) After using Julep products for over a year, I have come to love pretty much everything they come out with and their commitment to quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Taylor from MY SKIN IS SO SOFT I just got the mask in the mail today, and I just had to try it right away. I had never used a peel-off mask before, so I wasn't expecting it to feel so sludgy. It almost feels like latex or wax when you apply it, cause it's so thick and a bit sticky. I left it on for about 20 minutes, and then it peeled right off! My skin just felt sooooo soft after I couldn't believe it! Most masks I've used have left my face feeling really tight and kind of dry, but this one left me feeling really hydrated! I had to wash my face after to get the little straggler pieces that didn't peel off, but even after using a salicylic acid face wash, my face still feels really hydrated. I will most definitely purchase this again once I run out!

Rated 3 out of 5 by jemjemred from Nothing Special I'll admit that this peel-off mask was a fun little novelty to try, but after multiple uses and trials, I've come to the conclusion that it does not live up to its many claims and "benefits". The consistency of the mask upon application was incredibly thick and difficult to spread. With the amount of product you end up using, I can guess that you'll get no more than maybe six or so applications out of it, and that's if you're lucky. And you have to be mindful when you try to apply more of the product over parts of your skin that might already have some, because it has a tendency to lift and prematurely "peel off" before you've even had the opportunity to let it set for the needed amount of time. Maybe if the results following usage was more evident I would rate this mask higher, but my face feels no different after I've peeled the mask than before. This is legitimately nothing special, and with the obscene price for such little product, I'd highly recommend you skip it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Caitlin from Maybe I Got A Bad Tube???? I received this yesterday and of course had to try it out right away, but I find my experience was not like the rest of these reviews. To begin with, this stuff looks and smells like children's finger paints, pretty strongly too. I almost didn't put it on my face because I didn't know if I wanted to smell it for twenty minutes. The black goopy tar-like substance does spread nicely on your skin, and didn't take too much to cover my whole face. After 15 minutes the edges wanted to peel off but nothing else. After 20 mins, still wasn't dry. After 30 mins it started peeling off nicely, but there were still some spots that didn't want to dry no matter how long I waited. (Maybe because I sweat easily) Now I am allergic to nothing that we know of, and I've been able to try every beauty product I've ever been sent, and this stuff turned my whole face bright red and inflamed. I'm not sure what it was supposed to do, but I saw and felt absolutely no change in my skin. Not very impressed with this product. Even if it had worked as well for me as the others described, personally, the price point is too high. I don't think I'd pay more than $17-$20 for this if it had worked as described.
