Julep’s NEW Lip Gloss

by Emily R | 26 Comments

November 2013’s Maven collection debuts five new colors of Julep Lip Gloss. We’re pretty excited about these around the office. First of all, they’re so, so shiny. Secondly, they feel really good on your lips–they’re soft and hydrating. Not sticky or peely. Lastly, we haven’t yet found a color combination of skin tone + lip gloss shade that doesn’t look excellent.

We grabbed three gals from the office to showcase our point. Below, each wears the new Julep Lip Gloss shades in this order:

Charming — sheer mauve
Daring — sheer bright red luster
Glowing — sheer light pink
Timeless — sheer nude
Posh — sheer black honey

See what we’re saying? The subtle sheers react to your natural lip color in such a perfect way…dare we say they’re pout-perfecting?

For me personally, I’m excited to have a one-step makeup routine for Thanksgivvukah. I’m betting that the simple application of Julep Lip Gloss in Glowing is the only thing I’ll need to feel polished and pretty the whole day through—even while doing an epic amount of dishes.

Special thanks to Anisa (who also happens to be the inspiration behind this October color), Ariana, and Karissa! Now back to work, ladies.

Which color will you be wearing around your holiday table? Let us know, in the comments!

  • Daring and posh look like lovely fall and winter shades. Cannot wait to try them!

I am excited to try this as I am a lip gloss junkie. However, I am quite particular on if the gloss has a smell, or taste. Can someone please tell me what the scent is? Thank you

    • Emily

      Hi Heather!

Our new lip glosses have a very faint vanilla essence. We used a tiny amount for a more pleasurable wearing experience, but it’s so subtle that we consider it a “bonus” to the gloss rather than an actual talking point. We don’t want our lip gloss to smell or taste strongly like anything, but most glosses need a little something or they’ll just taste/smell weird, so the final answer for us is faint, faint vanilla.

      Hope this helps!

Are the ingredients all natural? Can you list them somewhere or tell me where I can find them?

  • Alena

I’m not excited about glosses… As I’ve gotten older, I’ve moved on to lipsticks and even better lip crayons because they’re so easy to apply! I’d love to see that sometime by Julep…

    • Emily

Noted! I’ve sent your note to the ladies in Product Development…

  • Martha Kindley

I did not get into Julep for lip gloss… I would love it if you’d go back to doing NAIL POLISH! Ugh…

I see another SKIP in my future… and then I’m just going to opt out completely, it’s just not worth it!!!

    • Emily

We definitely still do polish! In fact, we release the exact same amount of new colors each month that we always have. As you know, we make it super easy for you to skip any month, but you can also opt for the It Girl Maven Box which is always 100% polish and no products, ever.

  • Angela Piazza

Not sure which color to get. I usually wear nude but I think I will venture away from that and go with something with more color..lol

  • Jennifer Purdue

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for showing these shades on different skin tones! It makes it soooo much easier to see what they might look like on me! For the record, I am completely crushing on Posh for my pale skin.

    • Emily

      YOU’RE WELCOME, Jennifer. =)

It’s one of the first things we do around the office when the Product Development team presents us with new nail colors and cosmetics. We want to see them on as many skin tones possible. For professional AND personal reasons!

    • Amber

I totally want Posh for my pale skin too!

    Hi Emily!

It totally helps and I can not wait to try the gloss! Thank you for responding.

  • The shades look lovely, and what a great idea to show them on different complexions! I know this is a “picky” question, but I do have to ask it because for health reasons I avoid products (especially lip products) that have artificial fragrance added. It just says “aroma/flavor” on the ingredients list… can you tell me if that’s from a natural source (such as an essential oil), or is it an artificial fragrance? Thanks! Maya.

    • Emily

Not picky at all! I’ve sent your question up the chain and will report back when I have your answer.

  • Rachel

Like them all! Would like to get one of each! Love lip gloss!

  • Melly

I usually stay away from most brands lip glosses because I always find that they feel tacky, goopy, or sticky! My basic lip routine ends up being just a swipe of Burts Bees or EOS with no color. I would totally try yours though that is if you could tell me how the gloss feels? (On a side note if this gloss follows the same pattern as your other products I receive in my Maven boxes- then I’ll probably want to marry it- lol!)

    • Emily

      Hi Melly!

Our gloss is hydrating and leaves lips feeling cushion-y. It’s not sticky or tacky. Let us know what you think, hopefully it’s a “happily ever after!”

  • Carrie

Love the addition of these, as well as all the different additions that are available each month.
I definitely love seeing the different skin tones as well, though being VERY fair skinned I’m curious to see how Posh will look on me. Fingers crossed!! 🙂

  • Courtney

Are any of the lipglosses or makeup products tested on animals? Or are you cruelty free? Thanks!

    • Emily

Happy to say we 100% cruelty free. Every color, every product, forever.
