Throwback Thursday: Audrey Hepburn, What a Deer

It’s that time again: #throwbackthursday, when we share another vintage photo of one of our favorite style icons. And this week we’re casting our style spotlight on one of the most universally adored actresses and fashion icons of all time: Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey’s style is still recognized and sought after today because her signature look is truly timeless. She embodied classic elegance in LBDs, pearls, oversized sunglasses, and pumps. But we love the way she’s showing a more casual, colorful look in this darling image alongside her pet deer, Pippin.

(Wait—that fawn was her pet?) Yes! They met on the set of Audrey’s 1959 movie, Green Mansions. The animal trainer suggested that Audrey take the fawn home, so the animal would become accustomed to her before filming began. But they ended up bonding so much that Audrey took Pippin (“Ip” for short) home after the film wrapped. She even took him to parties and the grocery store.

Timeless as ever, her high-waisted pink pants, white top, and white bow headband would look just as adorable today as they did when this photo was taken. But of course, Hepburn’s best accessory in this shot (besides little Ip) is the pure, loving happiness on her face.

Of course, if you had a darling pet deer named Pippin, wouldn’t you be happy, too?

Get the look on your nails: We absolutely love the look of Martha in the spring—this polo pink crème gives nails that perfectly pretty, fresh femininity that we crave for the season. We think Audrey Hepburn, a true Classic with a Twist, would surely agree.
